California Chrome is a sweet, easygoing boy with a playful personality. He loves exploring, playing with his littermates, and following along to see what you’re doing, but he’s just as happy to settle in for cuddles, hugs, and plenty of affection. Whether you’re working around the house, relaxing on the couch, or heading out on an adventure, Chrome simply wants to be nearby.

Chrome has a balanced, handler-responsive drive. His natural drive is comfortably mid-level, but when engaged, he can easily turn it up to high for play, training, or adventure. He’s happy to match your energy without staying “on” all the time, and once the activity is over, he relaxes easily and is content to simply be with his people. Naturally gentle and patient, he rarely barks and takes life’s little moments in stride. He is motivated by toys, food, and praise (especially if cheese is involved) making him eager to learn, highly rewarding to train, and always happy to work alongside his person.

One of Chrome’s greatest strengths is his steady temperament. He recovers quickly from new experiences, remains calm in unfamiliar environments, and was quiet and accepting throughout his veterinary exam, grooming, and nail trims. He travels beautifully, often curling up in his crate and sleeping for the ride. His crate has already become a place where he feels comfortable, and he’ll often choose to nap there on his own when it’s available. Like many puppies his age, he may fuss briefly when first crated, but he settles well and will let you know when he needs to go outside.

Chrome is wonderful with children, has been well-socialized around other small pets, and naturally seeks out people for affection and companionship. He’s the kind of puppy who makes life feel easy, quietly fitting into your routine while always reminding you he’s happiest right by your side.
